Phil Haldiman has hosted 25 episodes.
Phil Haldiman comes to On the Grid via more than a decade of work as a professional journalist and freelance writer, plus a pinch of star power.
He has published hundreds of articles with a number of trade magazines and local publications in the Valley, one of which garnered him a 2017 Best Story Award from The Arizona Newspaper Association. During his seven years with the Arizona Republic he covered a number of beats and geographic regions, including Phoenix, Scottsdale, Surprise, Paradise Valley and Cave Creek. He also brings bankable cult film star status to On the Grid, playing the character of Denny in the “so bad it’s good” cinematic sensation known as “The Room.”
But Haldiman asks that you not hold that against him, as he has not let it stunt his writing abilities or journalistic sensibility. Although he spent four years in Los Angeles unknowingly laying the groundwork for his cult film status, he is a native of the valley and aims to contribute to the growth of the Phoenix area as a 21st century metropolis. This is where On the Grid comes in. He hopes the podcast contributes to the cultural landscape and acts as a conduit for all things great about the area.
Haldiman has a BA from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, as well as a BA in Theatre from Arizona State University. He is currently a News Editor for Independent News Media in the West Valley.
